Hi Jon,
I am in a dilemma and need some advice as well as profile evaluation . I applied to some schools this year(TUCK, Darden, Austin, Kelley and Carlson). I have got an admit currently. The college was in the top 25 ranks last year according to US news but now it has fallen into the thirties. I am currently wait listed for Austin but I am not sure whether I will get an call after this point.
I have not got any scholarship along with the admit (But I guess being from the IT background I was not considered). I would have taken up the financial burden if it is a top 20 ranked college without a scholarship but now I am really confused. This is because I am looking for a career change and I don't know how much I can leverage the college brand to make a career shift considering that I am an international student.
My Profile :
I work as a business analyst in the 2nd largest IT company in India ( Well I dont know whether to be happy or sad about it considering that I am an Indian IT male "
Apart from my IT work experience, I have also started my own construction company and have completed a project to construct a villa. I handled all the activities of the construction firm while I was still working in Cognizant. My long term goal is to be an entrepreneur and I though it would be much better to start a company and see whether I like entrepreneurship before I do an MBA.
I am the lead volunteer for an educational initiative of Outreach (CSR wing of my company). I conduct workshops to teach english to underprivileged kids from government schools. Atleast 100 students would have been benefited from this program.
Apart from these experiences I have also lot of hands on experiences working for family run firms such as super markets etc
GMAT 720 .
I did my UG in a non IIT institution although my college is the highest ranked institution in my state. My graduation percentage is 72% with a first class.
I am confused whether to apply again by improving my profile or enroll in the course this year. Please help. Thanks a lot in advance.
