Hi fellow applicants - anyone have any advice/tips/anecdotes for requesting an extension on an admit? I'm hoping to hear from a couple more schools and need to (politely) ask for an extension from another school I've been admitted to.

Thanks!

For what it's worth, I'm 0/2 on this. Called and explained my situation and was told that it was policy to not offer extensions. I told them I completely understood but felt like I had to at least ask. Neither seemed bothered by it.

I think it depends on the school. Some will and some won't. Given that deadlines for various schools are at different times, it kinda sucks when one particular school won't and you're still waiting to see what other peer schools say.

Hopefully the enrollment deposits are well under $1,000.00 because some of these deposits aren't cheap at all.

It definitely depends on the school. In my personal experience, I asked McCombs for a two week extension and they said that was absolutely no problem. I basically sent them an e-mail in which I told them that I was extremely excited about the acceptance from McCombs, however, I had a few applications pending and I wanted to see them through the end. They were very understanding about it, but like I said, depends on the school.

It depends on the school and your relationship with adCom. I successfully requested an extension because I'm waiting on multiple decisions as well. Some schools understand. It sounds like others don't care to offer them.
