There are many benefits to timing your practice, including:
My test is on Monday, July 2nd. Doing ok with Quant - it's a weak point but I have improved my score from 36 to 44.
Verbal is going well. My GMAT Prep tests - 47 in both. I am getting all RCs and CRs correct but always get 4-5 SCs wrong. SC is a problem. I have practiced absolutely no verbal except gone through some questions on GMATClub. (Excellent excellent source for questions and inspiration...I have recommended this to all my friends who are thinking of taking the GMAT).
My questions - I have the OG 11 (have done all quant and no verbal). Do not have a lot of time...would doing only the OG11 SCs help? or should I get some other book for this? Any advice will be helpful.
I need to have an excellent verbal score to make up for possible shortcomings in Quant.
If you are pressed for time, then I would recommend going thru the answer explanations on the SC section. This way, at least you would have an idea of what the GMAT is testing.
On the actual test, if you do like you did on GMATPrep, you will do terrific!
So, dont stress yourself too much. Rather, focus on building mental sharpness. On the test day, stay focused, sharp, and calm - just like a logical machine.
If you are really keen, do OG, but skip the first 100-150 questions; as the questions get progressively difficult, you can afford skipping the beginning.
47.on verbal?WOW!that is the highest prep score i have seen for a while. My suggestion to improve Sc is to get manhattan's SC guide or spidey's notes.Personally I think withyour score you can easily get 700.Keep us posted.
Thank you all for the advice and the encouraging words.
Leaving for the test in an hour. Keeping my fingers crossed and fighting off the panic. Just doing some final go throughs. Will let you all know how it went.
