Hello everyone!
Just sat for the GMAT and the results were pretty much in line with what I had anticipated:
630 Q34 (30%) V42(96%) IR:6(67%)
I have studied quant a fair amount but it just hasnt stuck, although I have scored a few 40-41 raw scores in practice exams.
Here's the situation:
- I am targeting a middle of the road PT Canadian program with a GMAT average score of 630 (though it may have gone up slightly since this information was last released)
- My UG GPA was 3.9
- Good work experience but fairly weak ECs
My question to you wise people of GMATClub is if it is worth retaking if my score is right around the school's average and the other areas of my application are fairly solid? I know the quant score is very low but I am wondering how lower ranked/middle of the road programs will react to this type of score discrepancy. Also, can I use my IR score, which is slightly above average, to help explain to some extent that I am not completely inept at quant?
Any insight is much appreciated!

Hi Shawarma,
Based on everything that you've described, I don't see any reason why you should be concerned about applying to this particular Program. While your Quant Scaled Score is likely a bit below-average for this Program, everything else appears strong enough. You'll still have to write some strong essays/personal statements, and you may have to do an interview - but these are all aspects of the application process that you can put time into and really 'nail' - so you can't just 'coast' through the rest of the process.

I was planning to apply R2 which is at the end of August, but was considering if I should retake and apply R3 instead and retake. My target school trends quite a bit older in its student profile (31 average) so if I applied this year and didn't make it and had to apply again next year, I doubt it would be much of an issue. I just want to make sure I am not wasting my time (and the adcom's) with an application hampered by a weak quant score.
I do believe the rest of my application will be strong and hopefully this will be enough to offset a very weak quant score.
