Copied from a previous post in different section of this forum...any input is greatly appreciated!

"My name is William and I am trying to determine if it is advisable for me to complete the Online Pre-MBA Math course at the UCLA Extension. Some details below:

-Undergraduate GPA 3.3 at UC Davis
-Two statistics courses, one lower division and one upper division, grades of B in both.
-No other college level math courses
-Certified Economic Development Finance Professional
-Working as a loan officer at a domestic micro finance institution (heavy on credit/financial analysis)
-GMAT not yet taken, but CATs show above 70th %tile for quant at the moment with 1.5 months of study

I will be applying to California schools within top 40 (UC Berkeley, UCLA, USC, UC Davis, UC Irvine, etc.)."

Without showing some strong quantative ability, Haas, Anderson, and Marshall will be a long shot. Davis and Irvine will be a bit easier to get into. Everything depends on your GMAT right now. With a strong quant score, you may be able to get away without taking any math courses; however, even with a really strong quant score, Haas may still be a long shot without some other demonstrating factors.

Thanks bakfed, this pushes my timeline back a bit since the course ends mid December, but it seems like I may not have enough mitigating factors to not take this class.

Others, feel free to chime in! Again your input is greatly appreciated.

Sorry to chime in late. I am a UCLA Riordan MBA Fellow. I have a very weak quant background. After reviewing my profile they reccomended I take calculus through UCLA extension. UCLA MBA program really likes calculus for some reason. I was required to pass the calculus with an A in order to complete the fellowship. I was also told by director of the program to maximize my GMAT quant score. If I scored high on the GMAT and got the A in the class then they would be confident in my quant ability. They also recommended I take stats before I matriculate. I hope that helps.
