Hello all,

I am a final year student in one of the reputed colleges in India(NIT Kurukshetra,India) with an aggregate GPA of 8.201/10(Branch: Electronics and Communication; Absolute Marking). My GMAT score is 690. I am secretary of a Students' Club, state level basketball player( runner up at ALL INDIA INTER NIT Basketball tournament too;not sure if that qualifies as nationals according to international standards), part of the university dance crew(won at many cultural fests pan India) and have a placement offer from Goldman Sachs as an analyst.

I was looking forward to applying at HBS. However, my test day was pretty disappointing. I plan onto appearing for the examination again in June and am pretty confident that I will be able to score within the range of 730-760. However the deadline to apply for the 2+2 program will have expired by then.

Is my profile along with the current GMAT score good enough for Yale Silver Scholars program, or should I leave the entire thing and give the GMAT again and apply after another 2 years or so?

I want to work with Goldman Sachs for atleast 2 years before moving forward with my MBA.

Hi there,
To keep it honest and real, I would say that Yale Silver Scholars and HBS 2+2 will be huge reaches at this point and with your score.... working a few years and spending time developing that professional resume and leadership experience and also building that GMAT in the meantime. The only additional thought is aiming to take the GMAT sooner, i.e. in the next 3 weeks or so, just in case you were able to nail it and wanted to try... it would still be a tough shot but slightly more reasonable with a top notch score. And I've seen plenty of people improve even in that short timeframe. Good luck!
