I took the GMAT back in 2010 with the intention of applying to business school a year later for Fall 2012. For a variety of reasons (mainly the fact that I had/have a good job and wanted to bank some cash), I didn't end up applying at that time. I'm now at a point where my employer will fund my mba and I am planning on applying and attending starting Fall 2015.
I know I scored a 740 overall (97th percentile) with a perfect 6 on my writing sample. I don't recall my individual scores on Quant and Verbal but I know I scored higher on Verbal than Quant. (With a gun to my head, I'd say my best guess is 42 Verbal, 50 Quant). I know that compared to practice tests I had taken at the time my Quant score was toward the lower bound of my projected score and my verbal score was toward the upper bound of my projected score . (I expected to do slightly better in Quant than Verbal).
So, given that my test is now four years old, and that I'm unsure whether I can do better than what I did before, should I retake the test now or go with my previous score?
