Hi All,
I am just starting the preparation for GMAT and my plan is to give it in May-June'14. I have done basic preparation read GMAT Manhattan books (8 of 9 - except RC)
Gave diagnostic test from OG and got average marks in about all sections (little disappointed there
). I am starting actual OG practice from today.
Want some expert advice on how I should start and improve.
My background - Bachelor's in Engineering, 7+ years of technology experience. Plan is to study everyday 3-4 hrs per day. Goal is GMAT score = 700-750
Need advice on improving concentration, focus and confidence.

Hope you are doing well! Confidence comes from having good methods and practicing those methods to the point that you internalise them or make them natural for you. Here is an article on building GMAT Confidence. So the first thing is to make sure that you have a good way of solving the most common GMAT questions. Second, make a schedule for yourself so that you know what you will be working on everyday. If you want an example of what this might look like take a a look at these GMAT Study Schedules. Lastly, keep a GMAT Error Log. This is critical. Focus on review. You should spend more time reviewing than you do solving new problem sets. Make sure not only to read explanations but to redo the actual questions. The review is so important. Most of my students tell me that one of the most important things that they learned while studying for the GMAT was the importance of review. Let me know if you have any questions!

PS: For focus and concentration: as you are solving questions skip and guess as you would on a real test. Don't get bogged down. You can spend time to understand your mistakes in the review. This should help keep you more sprightly and alert and is a great lesson to learn early on. This might be helpful for your general GMAT Study Habits.

It is more important to understand the concept behind solving a problem, than getting anyone problem correct on first try. For this reason, I recommend exactly what the poster said above -- review your errors. Understand WHY they were incorrect. Learn how to correctly approach the problem, and schedule daily (that's daily!) study time.
