I believe most schools say 3 times, though a few have varying rules. If I recall, UCLA says that they consider all scores when you take it 3 or more times. Not clear if this means they average them, or weight them or what.

How many times should one take the exam? Wouldn't schools look unfavorably if gmat is taken more than say twice? I was reading gmatblackbelt's posts and it seems like despite consistent studying, his 3 attempts at the real exam hasn't gotten him a 700. This has been the case with some other posters as well.

I have been studying on and off for the past 3 months and have been scoring between 44-48 in quant and 41-43 in verbal which has resulted in scores between 660-730 and I am fine with that. I don't need to be in any 700 club, just need a respectable score.

But after reading about the experiences of some people on the gmatclub whose practice scores have been very high yet real scores have been lower by 60-80 points, I must say I am a little nervous.

Planning to take the exam in a week. Any advice?

Fortunetly ive actually only taken the real test twice. If i had 640 3 times in a row, id of had a **** storm.

Ur verbal is pretty solid. Quant has a lil worse range, but still looks great.

I think ul do just fine.
