I am looking to transition from consulting into finance after INSEAD and I have received an interview invite from INSEAD for the August intake. However, I just recently learned that it would be very hard to enter banking because they primarily recruit from summary internships which are only available to January intake students.
In this case, I am very tempted to defer the INSEAD offer so that I can participate in the summary internship. What would be my chance of getting a deferral approved?
Thanks for the help!!

In the large majority of cases, no. You should apply for the intake in which you intend to enrol. In truly exceptional circumstances, the Admissions Committee may grant a deferral. All requests should be made in writing and will be reviewed on a case by case basis.

Thanks for the information. I have read that before but it's still hard to get a sense on how hard it would be to obtain a deferral in my case. My thinking is to receive the offer first before making a decision on it.

I don't want to comment on INSEAD's deferral policy, as I have no experience.
But have you thought about doing a pre-mba internship? It will be a solid substitute for the december intake's internship option
