If the value of the degree is more academic rather than recruiting or changing career or taking a break or exploring something new, how do recommend looking into intensive courses.

They are expensive. Their designed for companies to send their employees for one week or sometimes two weeks and these are all day classes in a very intensive format. I’ve known a handful of people who have done them, though they did not pay for them, they employer paid for them, but they had great things to say about them. Wharton offers a number of such programs. Columbia does as well. Wharton has a famous negotiations program … and the cool thing is that often you get the best professors in these programs but it’s also not uncommon for them to cost $10,000 for one week. Perhaps you can convince your employer to sponsor one of these. I tried to convince my boss a while ago specifically to do a Wharton negotiation class but he thought it was too expensive 😂 And instead I recommended a $300 6-weeks basic online class. I have to say, it was not bad. There was no class interaction though. It was just reading and posting your answers on the message board and submitting the final project. It was fun but not that fun. I can see doing a few specific classes in the areas that interest you….

That may be more feasible, less expensive, and more immediate perhaps? Obviously there’s a lot of things you’re not getting such as the overall experience and relationships and the net work but you may get some of that in some of the classes.

I think self improvement is a huge thing and it’s awesome that you’re trying to do it. I know it’s very hard once you get older and get a family to stay engaged.

Wow. It looks like you and I are both on the same decision-making timeline. Looks like you’re not really in a hurry.

Where is your post? In the decision tracker?
