Hi Silvers - welcome to GMAT Club - this would be my advice: should-i-retake-gmat-thread-retaking-gmat-strategies-83339.html

I think you are in a very good shape with 690. If you don't have anything better to do and wanted to take a shot at it, you can sign up with Knewton - they give a 50 point improvement guarantee, so if you don't improve, you don't pay. There is a 50% off special going on until tonight (best-gmat-course-discounts-coupons-codes-hot-deals-89270.html) but again I don't think it is worth it.

Well the only other thing is preparing for IVs... i read the retake GMAT thread and only condition i found that went against me was Indian IT male, but i think from my 4 years in US that too in a profile of a financial business analyst is a good differentiator or is it not?? The team i work in im the only engineer there everyone else is either a MBA/CPA or a CFA and ive highlighted this point in my App.

So, how would higher gmat help you then if you already applied? in R3?
R3 with 730 is not much different than R2 with 690. The main difference could be the essays and applications - if you are a bit insecure (everyone is at this stage), would focus on those and see if you can improve them for an extra attempt - more value than GMAT Scores. That's my opinion, but in this area, there is no black and white or right and wrong - depends on situation and perspective.

Well not planning to apply anywhere in R3, my school of thought was that if get an IV call from the R2 apps then my new GMAT score might make a difference to the final outcome.

seems i should be good with the 690 for ow, i am preparing for the exam if think i would be able to get it to 720+ by the end of this week then will go give it. Just wondering what happens if i get a lower score?? all the schools say that they will take the higher score so i guess my old score would stand good right?

Most Schools won't accept your new score, so it won't have anything to do. Moreover, your interviewer will not know anything about your application and would not have read any of your essays. They will only have a copy of your resume.

Moreover, most (not all but most) schools also will not accept any additional information if you get on the Waitlist (in order to be fair).

If you are planning to apply for R3 or next year, a retake with lower score wont have any negative implications.

So, based on what I have heard - there is no value for you to retake - you wont' be able to use that score for what you need.
