Hi all,
I attempted the GMAT again last week and did not get the score that I wanted. I am seeking advice on a study plan and I can provide my ESR if needed.
I first took the GMAT in Jan 2022 and I made a 650 (44Q/36 V) on that attempt. I used Veritas Prep before I took the test plus official questions and tests.
I took the exam again in Apr 2022 and got the same composite score so I cancelled it. I enrolled in TTP after this.
I went through all the modules for Quant and Verbal. Unfortunately, due to work constraints I couldn't do the last few chapter tests before my exam but I felt confident in the material. I even saw this in my 3 practice exam attempts.
I have taken all the official GMAC tests before, so I took the scores with a grain of salt because I knew it may not be reflective of what I'm actually at. My scores were as follows from my attempts:
Exam 1: 730 (49 Q / 40 V)
Exam 2 (GMAT Club Exam): 640 (45 Q / 33 V) -The verbal for this one I felt was not accurate
Exam 3: 750 (49 Q / 42 V)
While I recognized some verbal questions, especially on exam 3, I did not recognize any quant questions so I felt confident that I was understanding the material. I also used the tag page on GMAT club to do mini tests of 10 questions each and found myself getting 70% or higher on these mini tests with good pacing.
However, I did not see this on my actual exam. I got an unofficial score of 670 (43 Q / 39 V).
I felt like the actual exam was much harder than my prep, but overall my timing on verbal was okay. I was able to recognize question patterns and apply what I learned.
However, my quant score is a totally different story. The actual GMAT was way harder than any source material I had used for practice. I felt like I could not apply anything I learned. It really threw off my pacing and I ended up guessing on questions and rushing through easy ones. I felt it was not indicative of my practice at all and I was very frustrated.
I am aiming for a 700-710 on my GMAT so I am close. I would like to get a 47+ on quant. Unfortunately, I've used all the official GMAC exams and so many resources but I feel like I am just missing the mark in Quant. I am planning on taking the test again before July 2023 (haven't decided when yet). I am applying Fall 2024 so time is not an issue. If anyone can also point me to fresh CATs that would be awesome because I don't want to keep using the official ones as I've seen the questions before.
Any advice is appreciated. Thank you for your time.
