Hi guys!
First of all I want to thank from bottom of my heart to bb Bunuel KarishmaB AjiteshArun MartyMurray @GMATNinja @EmpowerGMATRich @Targettestprepscott @GmatKnightTutor @AneeshPassi @ChiranjeevSingh GMATCoachBen
Each of you have been an amazing teacher to me and without your efforts I wouldn't have enjoyed my GMAT journey.
However after three attempts, I am still pretty much where I have been despite changing strategies, materials and giving my full-time attention to it.
I am very certain that I want to only aim for the 2 year mba programme in US Top 15 schools and as an applicant who is overrepresented the bar is extremely high.
My Q now is should i shift to GRE?
My profile:
1. 26 yr old, from India, just started working in Dubai in real estate - so will have some international experience before I apply in R2 for 2026-2028 batch
2. Education background - bachelors in commerce
GMAT journey:
1. 1st classic attempt 2023 Dec
Score 670
Quant 48
Verbal 34
2. 2nd classic attempt 2024 Jan
Score 710
Quant 48
Verbal 40
3. 3rd Focus attempt 2025 Jan
Score 645 (I didn't send these scores)
Quant 84
Verbal 83
DI 79
As of my third attempt, I truly felt perplexed at questions. Like I really couldnt crack them despite taking a lot of time so i don't think it was just a bad day.
In my mocks i was scoring 98 and 99 percentile.
I don't think i have it in me to be able to look at GMAT books again or even visit that exam hall - there are some difficult memories attached to the whole experience now (despite the learning exp still wonderful). For my last attempt i wasn't even working and gave it complete attention. But if someone can convince me that it is the better path then let me know.
Let me know if you have any more questions. I will be starting with prep from next week so will be helpful to know

What are your recent practice test scores?
You could try taking a GRE practice test to see how it goes and how much work you'd have to do to get a high GRE score.
At the same time, if you have been scoring at or above your target score on official practice tests, then you might be better off just sticking with the GMAT. It's even possible that without much more prep, you'd score higher on the GMAT just by getting a set of questions that's better matched to your strengths.
I just last night talked with someone who was finding achieving his GMAT target score challenging, switched to the GRE and took that twice, and is now back to the GMAT, and he's not the only person I know of who didn't find switching to the GRE much help.
So, having put so much work into the GMAT, you might want to be careful not to jump to something else just because you don't feel good about your experience.

The good news is that a 645 is a solid GMAT score. I know you're aiming higher, but it means you're not far from your target. As for the GRE, the best way to determine if switching makes sense is to take an official practice test. Once you have your score breakdown, feel free to reach out, and we can discuss the next steps.
