C, D and E is out becasue it is changing the meaning. Because Margeret is the only daughter of a chlidless attorney.
I am really stuck betwee A and B. I think B uses the modifier correctly.
So I will pick B.

It is C. C means margarete herself is clidless and she is the only daughter of the attorny...

B is wrong because margeret cannot be only daughter of childless attorney...

I've picked C too..

""the childless and only daughter of an attorney" sounds pretty clear

After her admission to the bar, Margaret, herself a childless attorney's only daughter , specialized in adoption and family law.

A -
B - Margaret herself, a childless attorney's only daughter
C - Margaret, herself the childless and only daughter of an attorney
D - Margaret, only a childless attorney`s daughter herself
E - Margaret, herself, only a daughter of a childless attorney

I would choose B if it were " a childless attorney's adopted daughter".
C it is.

Btw, is it that in USA, " daughter" can only be used to indicate a " daughter whom one gives birth to"?!

I also pick C.

laxie> as far as I know, we only say "daughter" to describe our own children. The term is not a flexibly used as it is in other cultures. 8-)

yeah, the same curiousity confuses me.

I'd vote for (A).

If "a daughter-in-law" can be referred to as just "a daughter", (A) would be ok.

She specializes in the adoption law, and (A) says that she herself is adopted.

In this context, the phrase "only daughter of an attorney" in (C) makes no point.

How can margaret be a daughter of a childless attorney? To assumer that she may have been adopted is just downright silly! We dont need to make any such assumptions in an SC!!!!!

I will vote for C! I dont get how OA can be D! Chris, any explanations?
