How can I raise my score beyond 685?
Hello. I'm writing because I'm struggling after recently taking the GMAT.
I've taken the test 4 times so far. After getting a decent score on my first attempt, I thought I'd quickly reach over 700,
but my score only increased by about 10 points each time, hitting 685 on my third attempt.
Then, on my most recent (fourth) attempt, it actually dropped to 675.
Since my VR was relatively weak, I focused heavily on it, scoring
(QR 90, VR 84, DI 79) on my third test.
My first test had a DI score of 84, so for my fourth test, I thought I just needed to improve DI a little bit.
However, my final score was
675 (QR 90, VR 80, DI 80).
I'm feeling very frustrated.
Data Sufficiency (DS) was always my most confident part when solving problems, and I've been getting most Critical Reasoning (CR) questions right lately.
And what makes it even harder is that I was scoring between
675-715 on the
GMAT Club mock tests, too.
Even on an Official Mock I took two days before the exam, despite some minor errors, I scored 695, which made me think I could at least improve my score on the actual test if I just avoided mistakes.
But after studying so hard, instead of increasing, both my VR and DI scores dropped, which is very disheartening.
I know 685 is a good score, but for HSW targets, it feels like it's not high enough, so I feel like I absolutely need to raise it.
However, I have to start working on Round 1 essays immediately (and I don't even have my TOEFL score sorted yet), so I don't think I'll have any more time to study for the GMAT. What should I do? Would it be better to finish my essays and then take one last shot at the end of August?
(Due to circumstances, I will only be applying in Round 1.)
I've completely lost my confidence right now...
