I was just reading the sentence and found nothing wrong with it... infact...as ritesh points out, from X to Y is the right idiom..... one more to chalk on the idiom list... So "appears to have" is correct. If we were saying that the industry "has" made a comeback, then "has" and not "have" would be correct.
