Again About Background Check

Question

Hi everybody!

I am a European candidate admitted to a T10 school in R1. Will start my background check soon with ReVera.

I know they are going to check my academic and professional data. The issue here is that both my HR and one of my recommenders barely speak English. When calling them, in what language will they be spoken to?

The past few years background checks have been somewhat spotty. Many times performing just bare minimum validation that you have worked in the company or you have attended the University and sometimes not even doing that.

Either way, Language should not be a barrier or a problem. There’s also quite a bit of leeway and understanding during gratification based on what I have seen.

It is likely that the background check company, ReVera, will have multilingual staff who can communicate with your HR and recommenders in their preferred language. You should reach out to ReVera directly to confirm this and also provide them with the contact information of your HR and recommenders so they can communicate with them in their preferred language. It would be good to also inform your HR and recommenders that they will be contacted by ReVera, and let them know that they may be spoken to in their preferred language. Hope I helped you!
