After 2 years browsing on GMATClub forum, I honestly don't see a lot of interview debriefs on Australian MBA programs, especially for AGSM. So here is my interview debrief, hopefully it could help someone out there looking into MBA programs in Australia.
Interviewers: Dr. Kenneth Cheung (Head of Admissions) and Dr. Michele Roberts (Academic Director). They are the decision makers and have been personally hand-picking the applicants to shape the MBA cohort every single year.
Interview Length: 30 minutes (the interview was strictly conducted in 30 minutes and ended sharply on time)
Interview Format: business professional. The interview is a very important aspect of the application process and in their MBA admissions policy (which can be easily found on their "How to Apply" page), they wrote that applicants shall "maintain a high level of professionalism throughout all aspects of the application."
Interview Questions:
Q1: Explain to us your background and your CV highlights
Q2: Why are you seeking an MBA?
Q3: Why AGSM?
Q4: Do you have any questions for us?
Pro-tips:
Because there were not much insights online regarding AGSM MBA debrief, I did most of my research on 1) LinkedIn where I reached out to AGSM alumni + students in the current cohort, and 2) used GMATClub interview tips videos to prepare, which was super helpful.
One of the reasons I love AGSM was how amazingly welcoming the alumni + students + admissions teams were. All of them were willing to jump on a call with me to share more their program experience and the interview experience, and that's how I got my insights to prepare for the application process.
Overall, AGSM is really focused on building a unique & diverse cohort where everyone can contribute their perspectives and learn from their peers. So make sure this is something that you can concisely explain to Dr. Kenneth and Dr. Michele what values/experiences you could bring to the table to enrich their community.
