total amount borrowed from B & C = 6000
lets say amount borrowed from B = x
=> amount borrowed from C = 6000-x
from----A---------Interest
B-------x--------- 7%
C-------6000-x----9%
total simple interest = PRT = 1494
=P1*R1*T1 + P2*R2*T2 = 1494
=x*(7/100)*3+(6000-x)*(9/100)*3=1494
solving this we get x = 2100
simple interest paid to Brian = x*(7/100)*3 = 2100*(21/100) = 441
Answer is C.

Money from Charlie = 6000 -x
1494 = 3 [ x (0.07) + (6000-x) (0.09)]
Solve for x, x = 2100
Interest paid to Brian = 2100 * 0.07 * 3 = 441
