The real fight is between options A and E. Rest of the options just convey different meanings (eng intentionally reduced the tilt, etc). In option A, "Although..., the legendary Leaning Tower of Pisa nevertheless" has an issue of redundancy (Although already conveys a forthcoming contrast, so nevertheless is redundant). Whereas in option E, this issue is corrected, hence option E.
