IDIOM and Parallel-ism

right side starts with "...from"
hence it has to be BDE
now we need plural hence BE remains
costs associated from
is not Idiomatic

...............maintaining an information technology staff and from bla bla..........continuously improving hardware and software are larger than they initially estimated.
A) cost associated with
B) costs associated from
C) costs associated with
D) cost arising from
E) costs arising from

costs associated with and costs associated from improving are not parallel
in E
costs arising from maintaining and costs arising from improving

"Arising from" is the correct phrase, but the sentence must also be parallel. So, option E is our best bet.

from maintaining... and from continuously improving arre parallel

that leaves us with choice B ,D an E

arising from is more idiomatic than associated from... and also costs should be plural

so choice E is the best

Tricky one. Cost should be plural "costs" because of two noun phrases: maintaining and improving. Cross off A and D
Because of parallelism E stands.

Hi, I would like to know why ''cost'' is not considered plural, is it because here ''cost'' is a noun?

My Reasoning -

Costs associated with X and Y - (X and Y are somethings not actions) Correct.
{- (we can't use cost associated from here)}

Costs associated from X and Y (where x.y somethings not actions) - doesn't sound idiomatic.
Costs arising from X and Y (X, Y are actions) - This is better.
