What took me of the option A was the expression "than the original one had ." in the question stem. As far as I have read and heard we never say a storm had X casualties. Thats why I went with option D which implies that the town (they) had casualties.
I will go with option A B) additional than (changes the meaning) C)their number of ( usage of plural instead of singular) D)they had (same as above) E)additional than (changes the meaning)
a) with the number of casualties expected to be thirty times greater than the original one had - right idiom b) with the number of casualties expected to be thirty times additional than the original one had - additional than: wrong idiom. You need more, -er, etc. to use than. c) with their number of casualties expected to be thirtyfold what the original one had - wrong pronoun. The sentence mentions "at least one tornado", singular. d) with thirtyfold the number of casualties they had in the original one - wrong pronoun e) with casualty numbers thirty times additional than the original one had - wrong idiom
