Thanks for the info.

Sometimes I read comments where people say things like, "It's really important to be in touch with the admissions offices so they know who you are," and I always thought that that sounded like horrible advice.

I've read stuff like that too, and I agree it's horrible advice. IMO it looks desperate and will certainly not help your status. Just be patient and wait for the school to contact you.

It's also useless advice. You aren't going to be able to call up the admissions office and say "hi, im an applicant, can you connect me to the Director of Admissions?"

I'm imagining this scene:

Ad-com: Hello?
Me: Hi, I'm an applicant in Round 2 and I just wanted to check on the status of my application, make sure you received everything.
Ad-com: Oh, sure, I'll just check here, what's your name?
Me: Johnnyx9.
Ad-com: Okay, one second...this computer's really slow.....okay, yep looks like you're all set, we've received everything.
Me: Okay, great, thanks for your help.
Ad-com: You're welcome. [hangs up the phone then shouts out of her office] Hey!! Whoever is looking at Johnnyx9's application throw it in the trash!!

By the way Rhyme, what is your avatar all about? Orly?

I have imagined the exact same scenario as johnnyx9. I believe it is OK to check to see if certain materials have been properly matched to your application, but most schools do say to way 2 weeks or something before contacting them.

LBS MBA admissions officer David Simpson was very kind when I met him, he gave me his card and told me to write him an email. Mostly because I was asking if I should go there to visit the school even though I already applied. He said that yes and they would arrange at least a class for me to attend to.

I'm a little confused, some sort of internet short-hand? And something to do with owls?

I'm 28 but I feel like an old man saying to his son, "Hey, what is this "I like, very niiice!" that all the kids are saying these days? Have something to do with that foreign fella with the mustache?"

johnnyx9 -

While it may make sense to check to see they've gotten everything, you can probably get the same information by checking your status. Yale's already got my stuff all matched up.

aaudetat,

Yale has a pretty good application (or interface or whatever it's called -- I'm clearly not a tech guy), but the schools that use "ApplyYourself" don't have the detail that Yale has, do they? Yale shows each element of the application and the status, but I don't see the same for other schools. Am I missing something? (deja vu)

Thanks!

True. Few are big enough geeks (goons) to actually hang with you there.
