Took the offical GMAT this morning. What can I say. The results were disappointing:

640 (Q37, V40)

Not sure where I went wrong. Felt in control of the test the entire time and thought I was doing very well.

This is the second time I have taken the test. First result was 600.

I think I am done. I really have given this my all. Thought I would do better, considering my practice scores were in the 680-720 range. Not sure how much more preperation there is. I set the bar very high for myself, but I have to realize at the end of the day my score is not that bad.

Guess I just have to focus on the rest of my applications. GMAT is just a piece, just a number. It does not define who I am!

Hi.

I'm scared as well that I might not do as good in the GMAT as I am doing in the GMATprep. How different is it? Is it that harder?

Well, that was the problem. I found the Quant to be much easier. Of course, it is clear that I was just dealing with easy level questions. But all in all, I found the actual test very similar to GMAT Prep.

In retrospect, I must have screwed up a couple of the early questions. Just dumb errors, no reason I should have gotten those questions wrong. Have a huge feeling of "if I could go back in time...."

This is the second time I have taken the test, so I don't think I should take it again. I should just craft the best possible applications and go to war with what I have.

My #1 choice at this point is USC. Also like UNC. What do you guys think about my chances?

On second thought, don't answer that question! Way more I would need to provide in order to see what my chances are. Not just my GMAT score!

Not that you should listen to my advice and take my opinion into consideration but I think that you should take the GMAT again... You are consistently getting good verbal scores and, imo, this is too big of an advantage to let go. Again, you know what your level is much better than I do, but I feel that you can definitelly improve your quant score...

Good luck, whatever you decide to do.

I am surprised you scored high on MGMAT than GMatprep, but if you are scoring in the 700 range on MGMAT, i would say you are ready
