Hi GMATNinja,

Please help me to understand, why option E is wrong. If one can accurately assess how effectively any Delta vacuum cleaner cleans without knowing how powerful that vacuum cleaner’s motor is then the conclusion ' one cannot accurately predict how effectively a particular model cleans simply by determining how powerful its motor is' then shouldn't E be correct?

Among the various models of Delta vacuum cleaners, one cannot accurately predict how effectively a particular model cleans simply by determining how powerful its motor is. The efficiency of dust filtration systems varies significantly, even between models of Delta vacuum cleaners equipped with identically powerful motors.

The argument’s conclusion is properly drawn if which one of the following is assumed?

(A) For each Delta vacuum cleaner, the efficiency of its dust filtration system has a significant impact on how effectively it cleans. - CORRECT. POE helps. Bridges the gap between cleaning and filtration system efficiency.
(B) One can accurately infer how powerful a Delta vacuum cleaner’s motor is from the efficiency of the vacuum cleaner’s dust filtration system. - WRONG. Totally opposite to what passage said.
(C) All Delta vacuum cleaners that clean equally effectively have identically powerful motors. _ WRONG. Totally flawed.
(D) For any two Delta vacuum cleaners with equally efficient dust filtration systems, the one with the more powerful motor cleans more effectively. - WRONG. Not at all so. With varying cleaning for same powerful motor this assumption does not fit.
(E) One cannot accurately assess how effectively any Delta vacuum cleaner cleans without knowing how powerful that vacuum cleaner’s motor is. - WRONG. Even if one knows the power rating then too assessing effectiveness is difficult as per the blue text. So, this choice too is not true.

Negation - For each Delta vacuum cleaner, the efficiency of its dust filtration system does not have a significant impact on how effectively it cleans.
Still my conclusion holds true -
Among the various models of Delta vacuum cleaners, one cannot accurately predict how effectively a particular model cleans simply by determining how powerful its motor is. Since accurate prediction will require the data concerning efficiency of its dust filtration system even if the impact is not significant.

I don't think option A is a good enough assumption even though it's the best among all. upon negation - doesn't have "significant impact" does not mean that it has no impact. there may still be good amount of impact. it can be a strengthener but still has loopholes to be an assumption.
