I understand that between is used for comparing 2 objects and among for more than 3 objects but what should I use for the case below:
Between two dozens of the cars vs among two dozens of the cars?
This question is confusing between at first I feel like, I should use between since there are 2 but shouldn't you need 'and' somewhere in the sentence to use 'between?' Moreover, 2 dozens mean 24 so that is more than two so should use among?
In order to use 'between,' does it must have 'and' followed somewhere in the sentence? Because I know the idiom for between is Between X and Y.
Thank you for your inputs!

We should use among. For example: Mercedes Benz was among the two dozen cars on display.
among is used when we are looking at collections, as is the case here.
There are numerous instances when OG uses among in such scenarios. For example,
(i) ..among pugnacious states of the Greek world (#60, OG-13) (ii) ..among the 900 or so species of the world's social wasps (#102, OG-13) (iii) ...among the objects found in the excavated temple (#109, OG-13) (iv) ..fatigue among shift workers.. (#134, OG-13)
However, note that in a specific usage, between can also qualify. For example (a very hypothetical sentence, to clarify the concept):
If I were offered a choice between two dozen cars and two dozens bikes, I would prefer the latter.
