An engineering course in a university college has 240 students in the first year, out of which, 210 students take part in one or more of the following three clubs on the campus: Nuclear Engineering club, Artificial Intelligence club and Biomedical Engineering club. How many of these 240 students take part in all three clubs?
(1) Out of 240 first year students, 130 students do NOT take part in Nuclear Engineering club.
(2) Ratio of students who take part in only Nuclear Engineering club to those who take part in exactly one more club along with nuclear engineering is 2:3.
According to question & figure : Nuclear Engineering club= x+a+b+m =L, Artificial Intelligence club= y+c+b+m=M, Biomedical Engineering club=z+c+a+m=P & n=30
x+y+z+a+b+c+m+n=240
x+y+z+a+b+c+m=210 = L+M+P - (a+b+c)-2m eqn 01
According to the picture above : x+y+z+a+b+c+m=400
Thus , a+b+c+m=400-(x+y+z)=400-210=190
According to the Q-stem m = ?
1) y+z+c+n=130 or y+z+c=100
hence eqn 01 : x+a+b+m+(y+z+c)=210 or x+a+b+m+100=210 or x+a+b+m=110
still no information about x,a,b or m......
..........(NS)2) x:(a+b)=2:3
No specific information .......
.........(NS)(1+2) x+a+b+m=110 & x:(a+b)=2:3
still not enough to determine m..............
..............(NS)Hence I would go for answer E.
