Answer option D, 'projects' agree with 'group' and has a logical construction

I think it is E.

Initially, narrow it down to D and E by the verb agreement "projects" with "group".
Between D and E, E is better since it is average "between", and not average "from".

Idiomatic error introduced along with original error of subject-verb agreement. :wink:

It should be "D". In E there is incorrect usage of 'of' and 'between' together.

E.

narrowed it down to D and E because of "a group ... projects". Then picked E, because didn't like D for using "projects global warming to average", should be "projects a global warming averaging..", thus E

In D, ...group projects X to average...does not sound right.

We require singular verb ,so A B C are out ,between D and E ,I will go for D .
In E sentence seems imcomplete

I retract .On careful examination ,E looks best .The intended meaning is clear from between .from construction in D gives meaning that global warming average will start from 1.8 and end at 6.3

"An international group of.... projects", so A,B,C are out
between D and E. Both looks ok to me, however, assuming that original meaning of the sentence doesn't contain any obvious errors, I would like to preserve the original meaning

I would pick E.

D seems that the average will be raising from 1.8 to 6.3
but E is telling me that the average will be between 1.8 and 6.3

E -Wrong - between 1.8 and 6.3 is correct (only if these two values are present). But, we have from 1.8, 1.9, 2.0, 2.1 to 6.3
D -Correct. Uses From to correctly. Also shortest.

E for me as well. Use of singular verb keep out A, B and C. Between D and E. D has incorrect use of average.

D does not have the same effect as original 'A' intended. Even though E is strange, I prefer E.

This sentence can be read as :

"An international group...projects...Y"
We need "projects" here because "group" is singular.
So that leaves to D and E.

D would have been the answer if it had been " projects global warming to average X"
You cannot specify a range after the "to average" in D.

So that leaves E where "between" is used correctly.
