Andrew investe 12 percent of his March earnings. In April he earned 20 percent more than he did in March, and he invested 9 percent of his April earnings. The amount he invested in April was what percent of the amount he invested in March?

A) 80%
B) 90%
C) 100%
D) 110%
E) 120%

Let earning in March = 100 $
Invested amount in March = 12 $

Earnings in April = 120 $ (20% more than that of March)
Invested amount in April = 10.8 $

amount he invested in April was what percent of the amount he invested in March?
--> 10.8 = x% of 12
--> 10.8 = x/100*12
--> x = 90 %

IMO Option B

Pls Hit Kudos if you like the solution

A) 80%

We can let Andrew’s March earnings be $100, and thus he invested 0.12 x 100 = $12 in March. Furthermore, his April earnings would be 1.2 x 100 = $120 and he invested 0.09 x 120 = $10.8. Therefore, the amount of his investment in April is

10.8/12 x 100 = 108/120 x 100 = 9/10 x 100 = 90 percent of the amount of his investment in March.

Answer: B

Tried Numbers,
Let the Actual Earnings be 50
March : 12% Andrew invested 50 * 12/100 = 6

April : earned 20% + 50 = 60

And invested 9% of 60 ,= 9/100*60 = 5.4

Finally , 5.4 / 6 * 100 = 90%
