Another option:

You know the following:

m = 4 + z
n = e + y

Take a look at the rest of the table to see if you can immediately determine the value of z, e, and y. There is for y:

4 + y = -5
Therefore y = -9

Substitute this into the equation for n:

n = e - 9

If you look at the table, there's also a relationship between e and z:

10 = e + z

Knowing that z is in the equation for m, substitute e with an equation involving n:

e = n + 9
z = 10 - (n + 9) = 10 - n - 9
m = 4 + (10 - n - 9) = 4 + 10 - n - 9

Move the n over to the same side of the equation as the m:

m + n = 4 + 10 - 9 = 5
