I wouldn't say that anxiety is a major issues nowadays. Anxiety is normal. We all feel anxious from time to time. But if you're talking about anxiety disorders than yeah, it is an issue. As well as every other mental illness. You see there, as a person with social anxiety disorder i can tell you that it's very hard to interact with people in real life and, sometimes, even on the internet. This "thing" prevents you from talking, getting into any social interactions, events, etc. I will never walk up to a person to start some conversation and in most cases will avoid talking if someone has started a conversation with me. I'm happy that i managed to make a couple of good friends who support me and never put me in any situations where my anxiety might blow up with an overwhelming storm of overthinking. Pretty much, despite i think that my social life is sort of okay since i do have real life friends and we often hang out together, i'm still unable to interact with society properly. I think, i'm making things awkward all the time and always sure that people dislike me or mocking me in a way that i don't understand or can't see. These feelings might determine my mood pretty often. What i'm saying is that if we're talking about regular everyday anxiety and worrying - it's not an issue. Mental illnesses are.
