1)I was hoping anyone could point me out to any books on amazon which address what are the possible career paths one can take up by choosing a certain mba course.
Ex: i was under the assumption for some time that a person who has taken up entreprenurship will not be accepted for a finance job on wall street. And this has got me worried thinking entrepreneurs can only apply for PE/VC jobs which are very late in recruiting and picky; round 4 or so after IB, Consulting rounds.
Thats a huge risk according to me to wait and let other rounds pass.
2)Are there any books which describe which schools are good for what?
Ex:Its a well known fact that Wharton/Col/Chi are good for finance, similarly i have no clue about other schools like ross, duke, tepper, cornell, texas-austin.
Because, in my opinion a major part why you get accepted or rejected has to do with A)knowing what you have and what the school is into.
B)Having atleast a distant idea of the possible career paths that interest you and that are possible based on your profile.
Yes there are career switchers but even for them i feel that their fit(whether the school is looking for the pofile you bring) into a school is important.
I am an international candidate without any mba background so spare me the slack.

I don't know of any books on MBA careers that are actually worth buying, but Vault publishes an MBA Career Guide that might be of interest to you. You might also want to read the free articles available at https://www.wetfeet.com
The US News Rankings include a subset of Specialty Rankings that will answer your second question. The top 10 rankings are in the subjects of Finance, Management, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Non-Profit, and a few others. Generally speaking, these specialty rankings are a great place to start for identifying the strengths of each school.
Once you've identified a career path that interests you and you've identified schools of strength in the specialty rankings, you may also want to reference their employment reports to see how many students are accepting the jobs that you desire.

Thanks avernusaur, the website you mentioned looks good. Not like a barbie doll i mean, information wise.
I looked into Usnews but couldn`t find any detail as to which school is good or noted for which specialization.
Do u mean this information is given in the paid version.
Or maybe i missed, i will check it again.
