Hello, I am in my 4th year of study at a Canadian non-target (Schulich School of Business at York University) which is highly ranked in Canada but unfortunately I believe has very little international recognition. I plan to graduate with a 3.36 CGPA and am expecting to score at least 700 on my GMAT. I have recently looked into MSF programs in the United States and in the UK (e.g. Vanderbilt, Claremont Mckenna, Villanova, UVA, LSE, UCL, Imperial, Warwick, CASS). The GPA minimum requirements for Canadian applicants at the UK schools are listed to be 3.3 / 4.0
I was wondering if anyone could provide feedback on my chances of getting accepted. I realize that my GPA is fairly weak and I have also had to repeat a few courses which I initially received D's in which will be probably be a black mark on my application. With this in mind, can you provide some ways I can make my application more competitive (taking finance and calculus courses post-baccalaureate) or provide a suggestion of some schools I'd have a realistic chance of getting into? Unfortunately, taking an additional year to upgrade my GPA is not an option as my program forces students to graduate within 4 years. I am however able to retake a few more courses to upgrade GPA, but I am not sure how graduate admissions will look at this if I have 4 or 5 repeats on my transcript... One more thing, I'd like to work in investment banking after graduation. Thanks for your help.
