Hi,
I know there are some other threads on this, but the answers appear to conflict.
Is there any reason why I should not cancel my score, even if it is good? My understanding is that if I cancel my score, I can rewrite the test and simply reinstate that old score for $50 at anytime. On the other hand, if I don't cancel my score within 3 days, I lose the option to do so, so I would be sending two scores in the event that I choose to rewrite.
Am I missing something here?

No, you're not missing anything here. Cancelling is definitely the safer option. That said, many of the concerns around how schools use scores are not really valid, so many people will never need to cancel their scores.
Also, retaking the GMAT, and letting schools see that, is a way to demonstrate commitment to your chosen path.

You can definitely cancel the score...
However, a number of schools do ask for your GMAT history in the application. They specifically ask for you to list all GMAT attempts and scores received. This is definitely not the prevalent trend but schools like Booth and Darden do that I believe. People are often surprised when they run into it and face an ethical dilemma...
My suggestion is to take the test once and get the score you need. Don’t take the test if you’re not ready. It will not magically jump. Sometimes people have a bad day and that’s totally understandable but don’t be one of the folks who score 600 on the practice test and then they’re all bent out of shape when they get 600 on the real test and lament that it’s not a 700. You should have a sense of how are you doing on a weekly basis. I’m not suggesting you take full test by the way, that is exhausting. Instead you should be gauging your performance based on your practice questions and exercises. Make sure you time those and only give yourself about two minutes per question. Don’t do them casually.
