Most schools encourage campus visits. This helps applicants pick the school where they 'fit'.
These applicants can then mention a few points they liked about the school in their respective essays.
This is a pretty good system - it works both for the school and the candidate.
But a campus visit just isn't possible for some applicants e.g International residents.
So how do such candidates cope with this handicap?
Can we really learn a lot about school culture by looking at websites and blogs?
Thoughts anyone?

Let me list down some ways in which you can make contact with b-schools:
1. Find the basics from the websites. The information here will help you to form initial ideas and frame specific questions, which can then be explored through:
2. Reach out to club position holders for a one-on-one (do this well in advance of the deadlines, we have busy people here!)
3. If b-schools encourage you to talk to their admissions representatives for a one-on-one, take that opportunity.
4. Yes, the blogs can help, specially if you can find a blogger with the same career path that you are interested in.
5. Visit info-sessions in your city - there are MBA Tour and individual b-school sessions held in India.
6. Attend online MBA fairs, like the Economist Which MBA? Fair- there's one on Nov 21st.
7. You tube videos, online chats and webinars posted by b-schools! They are an amazing source of information.
8. Talk to students/ alumni.
9. Linked In is great for following career paths of b-school candidates and alumni.
That's a long list! Hope you will action some of these points.
