Anyone seen the score drop in GMATPrep 2 from GMATPrep 1?

Question

I thought GMATPrep 2 was tougher. I ended up committing more mistakes anyway:

GMATPrep 1: Q: 33/37, V: 33/41
GMATPrep 2: Q: 31/37, V: 32/41

Anyone's been on the same boat? Most of the posts I saw had better scores in GMATPrep 2 compared to GMATPrep 1. 

One more thing, I took these tests back to back - GMATPrep was next day. That could be one reason I didn't improve, but that still doesn't explain why my score dropped.

Any ideas?

Thanks Prof, I'd work a bit on quant, and keep working on verbal. It appears that improving the verbal score is nearly impossible. But I definitely can work on quant. A couple of less mistakes, and I'd be through.

I disagree. I think verbal is the easiest to improve - theres no risk of making a stupid math mistake (oops 14 + 3 isnt' 11!) or forgetting a formula (surface area of a cylinder!) or getting trapped by something like "how much MORE would sammy need..." and you solve for how much sammy has today or something (a common error). In verbal, its just rules. This before that, if you see X then expect Y, etc. I have a long discussion of verbal strategies here: https://www.gmatclub.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=30030 Also, if you don't have it, get the Manhattan SC book. It, pretty much, took my score from 35-37 up to 44-45. I got a 45 on the actual exam.

I got a 720 (Q.49;V40)
With 8 mistakes in each section
with the number of mistakes you made you probably went from a 760 to a 730...
I think that the variability for top scores is higher, which means that a 7XX+ test taker is as likely to get a 780 as to get a 740
