Apologies to everyone

Question

Sorry for this inconvenience. Several forums were attacked few days ago. 

We have taken note of these problems and are fixing them as time permits. We are doing our best to get back on track. Since this is a part time hobby thing at best and we dont have a full time tech guy or any staff, it takes a ridiculous amount of time to fix any thing.

We installed the latest version of phpbb. These errors are really strange, but I am confident that we can fix them soon

Also, one member reported me to recieve emails with @gmatclub.com.

Those emails were infected by virus, trojens and other wonderful gifts that could force one to reinstall fully windows.

Any idea about it?

All 29,000 + members got that email.

The bot used the forums email functionality to send a mass email to everyone.

Yea, I definitley got hit with that virus. Thank god AdAware found most of it. I also was able to disable some of the viruses using MSconfig. 

Maybe it was one of these IT guys (who got dinged), taking it out on the entire forum. I will use my super sleuth skills to further investigate...

I didn't notice any email with viruses so I searched through my spam folder and found 2 messages that were sent back-to-back. I really hope nobody suffer serious damage to their computer because of this.

It's great to have the club back.

Did spend a lot of time hitting Refresh - surely did miss this forum. BTW Phpbb gets hacked/abused a lot. I maintain another forum and spammers always target it; new updates fpr Phpbb get released to address various vulnerabilities on a regular basis

I have never understood why some people spend significant amounts of time to destroy the work of others. These people should get a life. This is a bit off the subject, but to me these folks are the same types that will run you off the road in their cars, yet can't even make solid eye contact when walking by. Subversive and annoying!

All documents, such pictures, excell or word files, have disappeared from the forum.

Also, the function to add a picture to a post is no more present.

Yes, we are aware of that. Files have not disappeared. 

All the "MODS" need to be installed again.

I clicked on that link at my work. My PC got infected and I "couldn't work" for 2 days. :-D

I never clicked on that link at my home laptop as I was sure that it was a some virus/Trojan.

i am the member FIG talking about , i had to format and re install the windows, and as my test date is approaching it was really frustrating how i couldnt log in to the forum.

well after all thank god we are all back , and this person who spend his life hacking and destroying others work and effort , is not a looser or anything , he just need a bigger better cause to live for , he or she is talented and persistant and he or she should direct those skills and efforts towards something positive.

i missed u all guys and am happy we are back on track

Ahhh!...It does feel good to see the site up and running!

I dont post much, but do logon every once in a while. Thanks Praet for all efforts in getting it back on its feet! I actually clicked on the 2nd mail(stupid me!) and as soon as I saw some new window opening with something getting installed, I closed all the windows..can anyone let me know what I should be doing next to find out if my laptop is infected?

All documents and functionalities are back

It just remains 1 weird thing... Every time that I post some specific caracters in the Math section, some following parts in my explanation are "eaten"/deleted automatically

For instance : < = > (once all symbol are attached makes the problem) Some ideas ?
