I have been studying for approximately a month, with prime study material as the OG. I took a couple of mocks with my score lying around 550(V20,Q45)

Hi uditgopalka,

The OG books are great sources for practice questions, but they're not designed to teach you Tactics, patterns or the little 'secrets' behind the GMAT - for those, you will need Course-oriented materials. Assuming that you took your CATs in a realistic fashion that matches-up how you will take the Official GMAT - and your 550 is an accurate result - then you will have to put in some significant additional study time before you will be able to hit your Score Goal.

Raising a 550 to the point that you can consistently score 700+ will likely require at least another 3 months of consistent, guided study - and you will have to make significant improvements to how you handle BOTH the Quant and Verbal sections. Thankfully, the GMAT is a consistent, predictable Exam, so you CAN train to score at a higher level. That having been said, you might want to consider pushing back your Test Date.

I mentioned this in a prior post, but it bears repeating: if you are interested in applying to any highly-competitive Schools, then you would likely find it beneficial to speak with an Admissions Expert about your overall profile and plans. Those Experts should be able to answer your Admissions questions and help define the specific areas of your profile that could use some improvement.

There's a Forum full of those Experts here: https://gmatclub.com/forum/ask-admissio ... tants-124/

Hi Uditgopalka,

Its not necessary to do any course to switch reasoning from technical to non-tech. Its more about how you think. Getting into the right frame of mind is essential.
However, it seems to us that you are looking to add a few certificates to boost your application. The first step in such a case should be to identify gaps - where you are currently including what are your primary skills wrt where you want to be. You need to be clear on your post-MBA goals. For example, if you are looking at say a brand management career, you may look at marketing courses targeted for the same.
Also, you could focus on courses targeted at accounting or financial modelling - areas that form one of the pillars of MBA education and typically missing in skillset of someone with a predominantly technical career.
It would add more to your application if you can show some tangible experience rather than a certificate. With online learning becoming easy and almost free, certificates are losing their sheen.

Cheers !

Hi,

I'm from a technical background who's looking to get into MBA.
I'm planning to go for some online short course (3-4 weeks), to boost my reasoning to switch from technical to non technical field.
Can anyone please help me with some similar course, or other ways to boost my application.

Thanks

Uditgopalka,

Thats a pretty broad domain to ask for. With some years of experience in IT industry, are you looking at domain consulting or the broad space of management consulting?
We would recommend Victor cheng's case interview videos to a good overview into consulting. Again its not certificate but broadening your knowledge base.
If you can get to do some freelance consulting work, it may add to your profile.

Cheers!
