A score of 730 coupled with a diverse background indeed elevates your chances.
Best of Luck for the applications.

The optimistic evaluation is that the pillars of your profile suggest you'll be in the mix. The negative view is that there isn't anything based on what you have described (which we imagine, of course, isn't the whole picture) that really stands out, so HBS will be a crapshoot.

The key for a candidate such as yourself is really finding a way to come up with a unique or creative narrative to differentiate yourself. HBS has one major essay - a personal statement - that affords you that opportunity. Nailing that is your best shot.

Congrats on all of your achievements!

You are HBS’ dream candidate. I wish I had these scores.

New to this forum so apologies if this isn’t how it works. But curious what my application chances for HBS are with this profile:

- White male age 27 (from Midwest)
- 730 (Q49, V41)
- Midwest state school accounting major (3.75 GPA) + heavy involvement and leadership positions
- Midwest state law school (4.0 GPA, Class Rank 1 out of 150 students + 99.99 percentile bar exam score)
- CPA license
- work for a Community bank (family business) ~ $1 billion in assets and 150 employees: positions are VP of Strategy + board member
- Heavy volunteer experience with two nonprofit board positions

Hello dittman1430,

Thanks for writing in.

You have a fine GMAT score, strong leadership potential, and a rich extra-curricular background; when you are applying to the likes of HBS, it is neither straightforward nor sure-shot; however, we feel your profile has the strengths to give HBS a shot and you absolutely must!

All the best!
