Hi,

I gave my GMAT a week ago and I am planning to apply in Round 2.
Could someone clear the following doubts please:
1. I have a profile with average acads, 720 GMAT, 3 yrs IT work ex and 1.5 yrs start up work ex. With this profile should i think of applying to the top 20 schools? Planning to apply to schools such as HBS, Stanford, Haas:Berkeley, MIT Sloan, Chicago:Booth, Columbia, Wharton and Kellogg.
2. I have some EU schools also in my list such as IMD, INSEAD & IESE but I have heard that the job scenario is not good in these countries. Very little time is given to search for a job. But how much would that matter if someone graduates from these schools?
3. How many applications (max.) should I work on and do justice to them), considering that only a month is left for the Round 2 deadlines?
4. Should I also look at some lower ranked schools? What are the effects of not getting into a top school and joining a lower ranked school?

Would appreciate quick replies as I am quite short on time.

Thanks!

Hi Anant,

You've got an interesting profile and I would love to know more about your entrepreneurial experience. The schools you choose should depend on what you want to do post MBA and not based solely on brand/ranking. That said, apply only to those colleges where you would definitely end up going, if selected.

What are your goals? While the schools you've mentioned are very appealing, but considering that these are the most competitive to get into, I would choose those whose offerings are completely alligned to your academic needs. Additionally, also apply to a few more reachable schools. I will be happy to suggest names once you give me details about your career, responsibilities and goals.
