Applying on last few days before round closes

Question

Hello everyone!

I'm currently applying for HEC, ESSEC and ESCP's Masters in (International) Finance.

Does anyone know if these schools start reviewing each Round's applications  only when the Round is closed , meaning everyone has equal chances within the round?
 
Or do they  start looking at applications as they pour in , meaning it might be better to be the first to submit my application in Round 3 than to be the last to do so in Round 2?

In other words,  does it make any difference between applying on the first or the last day of a specific application round ?

Great question, this is a common concern for MiF applicants.

For HEC, ESSEC, and ESCP, applications are reviewed by round, not on a rolling basis within the round. This means that all applications submitted within a given round are considered together once the deadline closes, and candidates are evaluated relative to others in that same round.

So in practice:

Submitting on the first vs. last day of the same round does not affect your chances, as long as your application is complete and submitted before the deadline.

What does matter is which round you apply in, not the exact submission date within that round.

Between your two scenarios:

Applying on the last day of Round 2 is better than the first day of Round 3, because earlier rounds generally have more seats and less competition.

You should choose the round in which your application is strongest (tests, essays, recommendations), even if that means submitting closer to the deadline.

In short: don’t rush to submit early within a round. Focus on quality, completeness, and applying in the earliest round where your application is truly ready.
