Hi guys, I'm considering applying to T-15 B schools.
I don't want this to be too much about stats but my GMAT/GPA and other stats are I think pretty average among people applying to these schools (730/3.65). My company is not one of those big name companies but has some name recognition.
Now, my concern is that if I apply now I'll have only 1 year of work experience (will have 2 by the time the program starts). I want to make a complete career change and hoping to use an MBA for that.
My question is: is this a stupid move? Should I wait a year or two so that I'll have 2-3 years of work experience by the time I apply?
Do these schools even admit students with little work experience other than those who graduated from Harvard with 4.0 gpa and started a business?

Hi Rain111, applying with one year of experience is going to be very difficult (likely near impossible). These schools look to build classes with a diversity of backgrounds and work experience to draw upon for class discussions, etc. Not having at least a few years under your belt makes it very hard to make the case for how you will contribute. Schools have launched (or grown) deferred programs in recent years to target those students who are poised to do great things (based on undergrad, extracurriculars, internships, etc), but these offerings still give people a few years to gain some real world experience before returning to school. It's never too late to start planning for an MBA down the road though - feel free to reach out if you'd like to chat further, as we do offer services to help with this early guidance. Good luck!
