Approaching RC

Question

Hi, I am having difficulties answering the all RC passages ..Usually I take 10-12 minutes to solve an long RC passage with 60-70% accuracy...and 7-8 minutes for short one with the same accuracy..I always have to guess in the final passage...

..In real exam what should be my approach?should I leave one whole passage or should I give a guess to harder questions and move on ?...Can anyone suggest ? I have 1.5 months in hand before the exam.Will it possible for me to improve the timing?Thanks

SEEING your verbal score, you seems to me are not native English speaker. However, the strategy that suits for me may not for you. So whether one rc should be escape or time should be taken much for long rc and moderate time for short rc depends on you. if you are in a hustle for rushing the next question within the time but get maximum wrong answers so it is effortless. But if you have to sacrfice some questions or by guessing answer to correct maximum possible questions that may not be worse, i think. All the answers options of the rc questions are twisted in the passage so you must understand for the complexity. SAY FOR EXAMPLE I AM SHOWING THE FACT.............TAKE THIS ONE AS A LEARNING

RC begins explanatory idea immediate following general idea preceded by the author at the top the first paragraph, then introduce exemplary example or supporting defending or offending idea that is tried by the author to make the preceding position strong, and the last phase of RC, author tries to take a position ( not necessarily in all passage) in relation to the summation of the main idea. so you can diagram
this in a way that follows----

i ntroduction: GENERAL IDEA
then
body part: SUPPORTING OR OPPOSING STATEMENT
THEN
body part along with example: EXAMPLARY EXPLANATION
and finale
conclusion (not necessarily in all passage so far i know): AUTHOR’S POSITION REGARDING total explanation of the rc

YOU must know the trigger word to identify the turning or shifting point that the author directing the general idea toward WHAT?
Say for example BUT , ALTHOUGH, HOWEVER AND ..............
U have to know the similar or dissimilar introducing idea indicators say for example: by the same token, likewise............
and finally the author's TONE POINT: I GIVE YOU AN EXAMPLE THEN YOU WILL BE MUCH COMFORTABLE

NOW THE RC:

Although many lines of evidence indicate that birds evolved from ground-dwelling theropod dinosaurs, some scientists remain unconvinced. They argue that theropods appeared too late to have given rise to birds, noting that Archaeopteryx lithographica—the oldest known bird—appears in the fossil record about 150 million years ago, whereas the fossil remains of various nonavian maniraptor theropods—the closest known relatives of birds—date only to about 115 million years ago.But investigators have now uncovered bones that evidently belong to nonavian maniraptors dating to the time of Archaeopteryx. Skeptics also argue that the fused clavicles (the “wishbone”) of birds differ from the unfused clavicles of theropods. This objection was reasonable when only early theropod clavicles had been discovered, but fossilized theropod clavicles that look just like the wishbone of Archaeopteryx have now been unearthed. Finally, some scientists argue that the complex lungs of birds could not have evolved from theropod lungs, an assertion that cannot be supported or falsified at the moment, because no fossil lungs are preserved in the paleontological record.

Here -----FOR no fossil lungs are preserved in the paleontological record. RESULT:complex lungs of birds could not have evolved from theropod lungs AND SUMMATION:an assertion that cannot be supported or falsified at the moment- HA HA HA HERE AUTHOR DOESNOT TAKE STRONG POSITION RATHER TAKES THE SUMMATION OF THE FINDINGS.

NOW QUESTIONS:

b. suggest revisions to the standard theory of the evolutionary history of birds:  AUTHOR DOESNOT offer any plan to alter or edit the existing plan....

c. evaluate the usefulness of fossil evidence in determining the evolutionary history of birds: t he evaluate means author must give the positive negative consequences of the general idear and takes one of them so nothing happened for evaluating.

d. Challenge the theory that birds evolved from ground-dwelling theropod dinosaurs;  challenge means call into doubt, call into question, counteract, and contradicts to the concerning statement. ASAD have u identified any tone like these in this RC?, I DID NOT find you may not find i think to be.

Have you tried reading regular books? Go to Nilkhet, buy onek ta classics (Sidney Sheldon marka boi cholbe na), learn how to read and understand efficiently, TARPOR try GMAT questions.

Trying GMAT RC/CR passages without having a solid grip on reading is like applying to BUET without knowing any math.

I would suggest you to check out an RC book. Knowing the various question types puts you in the right frame of mind. There is something comforting about reading the various strategies you can follow. You can select the right one for yourself. Also practice RCs of varying difficulty level from various topics. Learn to grasp the gist of any passage given to you. Once you understand what the passage is about, the universal questions (dealing with the main idea of the passage) can be done without going back to the passage. I would highly recommend the Veritas RC book since it has passages of varying difficulty level. Some of these are the most difficult you will come across. Also the passages are made on the lines of OG passages so they are very similar to actual GMAT passages.
