we need to know if the employees attending the picnic if 40% are male?

Option 1:
20% of the men are attending , no idea about the absolute number of men nor we know about women so not sufficient

option 2:
30% of the women are attending the picnic . No idea about men . So not sufficient

Option 1+2
Now even with both we don't know anything about the absolute value of men and women hence by any means we can not find out if the number of men are more than 40%. Hence option E should be the answer
Bunuel
Are 40% of the employees attending the annual company picnic men?

(1) 20% of the men employed at the company are attending the picnic.

(2) 30% of the women employed at the company are attending the picnic.

(1) 20% of the men employed at the company are attending the picnic.
Men attending picnic= 0.2M
No info about woman attending
Insufficient

(2) 30% of the women employed at the company are attending the picnic.
Women attending picnic= 0.3W
No info about men attending
Insufficient

(1)&(2)
Total attending picnic= 0.2M+0.3W
We don't have any absolute values of either men or women attending the picnic.
Insufficient
