Dear Suntu,
Below are responses to your questions based on the trends we have observed for the last 5 years.
ISB has started sending interview invites to shortlisted students.
Do they send these interview invites randomly or do they have a system like where stronger a profile is, earlier that student gets the interview invite?[/i]
CA: Till about 3 years back all interview invites for a particular interview location were released at one go. However, for the last few years, ISB is rolling out invites in bunches without any specific trend for priority. Based on the results of the applicants we have guided this year for R1, we observed that the ones who submitted their complete application (including LOR) well before the deadline have been invited for the interview. The ones who submitted on / closer to the deadline are awaiting results. It has nothing to do with the strength of the profile.
Also how could someone with weak or average verbal communication skills prepare for an interview? Does he still have a chance if he/she doesn't do good in interview?
CA: In case you are already aware that you are weak in a certain section, you need to start preparing thoroughly to overcome your weakness even before you receive the invite (probably 5 days prep time might not be enough). Start preempting questions the interviewers might ask from your profile, from your application you have submitted, from the industry where you have been working, etc. Note that the logic, depth, and accuracy of your responses are more important than your oratory skills. As an alumni, I have been part of such panels, and I can confidently tell you that your oratory skills is not a make-or-break criterion.
Wish you all the best and feel free to get in touch with us in case you seek guidance with mock interview prep. Our consultants are all alumni from ISB and have guided hundreds of aspirants like you ace the interview with ease.
Cheers
