Are MiM’s actually worth it in North America?

So my question is relatively straightforward. I’m aiming for MiM’s in Canada.
However, I’m struggling to justify the choice. My profile isn’t spectacular (it would be for European schools, but my graduate GPA is low ~65%, and Canadian schools tend to weigh it quite a bit as I’ve been told) , so I can’t really target Ivey or Sauder of Smith’s/Rotman. Maybe if I get lucky, sure. GMAT atm is 650. A retake is very much on the cards. Pushing for the 700 by the end of feb.
The issue is, apart from these, and HEC Montreal, the other options such as UCalgary, or Windsor, are all either obscure, or research focused (Ottawa, Carleton, etc.). I’m struggling to find people who’ve completed these programs (the latter ones mentioned), and are doing well. In most cases I can’t seem to find people at all!
Even from respectable schools like JMSB (Concordia), I find people telling me their previous experience was much more valuable to them landing jobs than their MiM’s. And that in most cases, for the US as well as Canada, people prefer MBA’s to MiM’s. So this really casts a dark cloud over the whole idea.
So, if you were to get rejected from the top schools (which with low GPA seems extremely likely) is it worth pursuing AT ALL? Or is it better to;
1. Wait, get experience and try again/go for an MBA
2. Go to Europe.
This question has been boggling me for a while. And I’d love to hear what you guys have to say about it. I don’t want to be in a position where I’m desperately trying to justify the choice of having done an Mim.
Thanks a ton.
