(1) 51% of the workforce is female and married.
(2) 49% of the workforce is male, married and has children; the rest of the workforce are females and have children.

(1) 51% of the workforce is female and married. -> clearly not sufficient

(2) 49% of the workforce is male, married and has children; the rest of the workforce are females and have children. -> not sufficient as 51% of workforce are females and have children, but how many of these are married? we do not know.

(1)+(2) we know that out of the 51% of workforce that are females and have children from statement two, all are married as it is the same number as in statement (1)

While you wait for the OA, thought I'd share an expert's take.

First, jot down the question: is it true that >50% of females at the company are married with children?

I’ll note that to get the answer listed here requires a bit of an assumption: that “the workforce” in the statements refers to the workforce at the company. The GMAT would probably have that additional caveat listed in the statements.

That said, if we make that assumption, here’s how we’d work through this.

Statement 1 : Insufficient on its face. There is not information provided about the percentage of anyone at the workforce with children. Cross off A and D.

Statement 2 : We can deduce that “the rest of the workforce,” 51%, are female and have children. But we don’t know whether those people are married. Insufficient. Cross off B.

Statements 1 & 2 Together:  Statements 1 and 2 each independently confirm that 51% of the workforce is female. Statement 1 confirms that all of those people in the 51% are female, and statement 2 confirms that all of those 51% have children. So according to the information, 100% of the females in the company are married, and 100% of them have children. That’s sufficient. The answer is (C).
