i just to got know from various sources that OG questions(specially quant) are not a true indicator of the questions asked on actual gmat exam. the questions which GMAC finds less reliable for the exam are added to the OG. Is it true and if, then upto what extent? is this also true for the Verbal too ?
I am a confused on this as i found the real GMAT questions are way tougher than what i have solved from the OG's.

OG questions are a good indicator of actual GMAT questions, no doubt about that. Usually, they are old, retired GMAT questions. Some of them could be those that did not make the final cut in the experimental phase but are still a good indicator of actual GMAT questions. Hence, we do not need to worry about the quality of OG questions (though there have been a couple of debatable CR ones in the latest OG).

That said, the reason you found OG questions to be easier is that most OG questions fall in the 550 - 650 level range. There are some 700 - 800 level questions too, but not many. If you are performing at about 700 level, you will see trickier questions in the actual GMAT because the adaptive algorithm will give you more questions in the 700+ range.

OG questions are a good indicator of actual GMAT questions, no doubt about that. Usually, they are old, retired GMAT questions.
