Are question packs from GMAC more representative than both OG and OG supplement guides? I have 1 month before the exam, (although I plan on 1 retake), but I am only through the OG. Does it make sense to move to Question Packs, instead of the supplementary guides? I am weak in quant, so it takes a long time to go through/review every question. Thanks.

Hi greenexpo,

Before I can offer you the specific advice that you’re looking for, it would help if you could provide a bit more information on how you've been studying and your goals:

Studies:
1) How long have you studied?
2) What you used any other materials besides the OG?
3) How have you scored on each of your CATs (including the Quant and Verbal Scaled Scores)?

Goals:
4) What is your goal score?
5) What is your exact Test Date?
6) When are you planning to apply to Business School?
7) What Schools are you planning to apply to?

The GMAC does check the reliability of the free and paid GMATPrep tests, but I don't think they put that much effort into the question pack and the OGs. Both have useful practice questions (with explanations!) and both provide online access with difficulty selection, so I don't think either of the two sources you mentioned offers any significant advantage over the other. If you can, do both.

Thanks Ajitesh and Rich. I actually found a thread that suggests QPs and EPs are more representative. Please let me know if I am misinterpreting the discussion.

Question difficulty is a subjective measurement, and since GMAC doesn't provide precise statistics, there is no definitive way to know how the difficulty levels of OG questions compare to QP1.

(We do have some tools for measuring difficulty, but they are currently crude and unreliable.)

I will concede that the "conventional wisdom" is that QP1 is a bit harder. It could be a myth, though.
